3 Things To Do BEFORE Your Family Photo Session | Dallas Fort-Worth Photographer

Hi everyone, Hannah here! Busy season is here and I have been capturing the most incredible families here in Dallas - and just in time for those holiday cards. As a long-time photographer of children and families, I realized it was time to share my biggest tips on how families can prepare for their photographer session beforehand. Here are my top 3 suggestions on things to do BEFORE your family photography session:

1. Avoid The Stress!

Family photoshoots take quite a bit of planning. My biggest tip is getting those outfits ready ahead of time. Try on your clothes for everyone including dad (avoids the stress on the day of when something doesn’t fit). Steam everything and hang it together in ONE place. Don’t forget those simple details like socks, shoes, and bows. Having all items ready to go will allow the hours before to go more smoothly, versus running around the house trying to get out the door - and I know exactly what that’s like.

2. Set Up A Beauty Routine

There are quite a few things to remember when it comes to preparing for your family photo session. Things along the lines of self tanner, whitening your teeth, and scheduling makeup and hair appointments should all be done a week prior to your photo session. This time frame can allow for little error on your photo day! Many clients ask for recommendations on certain regimens on beauty and health. Eating healthy and light can avoid bloating from gluten or dairy, but I always preach on doing what works best for you.

3. It’s All About Timing

When it comes to your family photo session, definitely plan to be 15 minutes early! This allows kids to warm up, along with giving you wiggle room if there is traffic. Trust me, every photographer Keep creating fun memories after your photo session by planning a fun family outing. Whether it’s a fun food spot or an indoor activity for the kids, it surly will make the day more exciting!
